Box Score Rangley, CO - Mighty Lizards of Truckee Meadows (TMCC) took a loss to the Spartans of Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) on Thursday, Sept. 18 with a final score of 1-9.
The Mighty Lizards faced a tough test on the road, but despite the final score, showed determination throughout the entirety of the game. With over 18 shots on goal, Issela Luna found the back of the net with the assist coming from Alondra Carrillo. Both TMCC goalkeepers Karen Salgado and Dakota Gomez made an appearance with over ten combined saves, giving the Spartans a run for their money.
Teamwork and grit were the core of TMCC's performance. Working together, there was clear ball movement and growing teammate chemistry, which led to an increase in offensive work and team communication throughout the match. Even though the score did not reflect TMCC's intensity, the Mighty Lizard's perseverance set an uplifting tone for their next match.
The Mighty Lizards look to return to the road this weekend, where they face Salt Lake Community College on Saturday, Sept. 20. The match will be streamed on the Scenic West Network.
