Jerome, ID - Trckee Meadows Women's Soccer (TMCC) fell to the Casper College Thunderbirds on Saturday, Aug. 30, with a final score of 4-1.
The Thunderbirds asserted their home turf dominance within the first seven minutes of the opening half, creating a quick 2-0 lead. The Mighty Lizards answered with Kayla Guzman, who found the back of the net with the assist from Monserrat Iza in the sixteenth minute, tying the score. TMCC goalkeeper Dakota Gomez held strong for the Mighty Lizards, making more than five saves and keeping the Thunderbirds from adding to their lead.
The second half proved a challenging fight for the Lizards, as neither team scored for the first thirty minutes. The Thunderbirds offense broke the silence by firing on TMCC, adding two more goals in the fiftieth and fifty-third minute, extending their lead. Despite the scoreboard, TMCC fought relentlessly holding Casper to no additional shots on goal. Although a competitive half, the scoreboard remained unchanged, and TMCC fell short in the hard-fought defeat.
The Mighty Lizards will head back north next week to face off College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, ID on Saturday, Sept. 6. The match will be streamed on the Scenic West Network.
