Box Score Salt Lake City, UT - Lady Lizards of Truckee Meadows (TMCC) lost to the Bruins of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) on Sat. Sept. 20. The final score was 0-4.Â
Â
The Bruins wasted no time showing the Lizards home territory. In the first ten minutes of the game, SLCC scored off a backpost assist, bringing the score to a quick 0-1. Relentless, TMCC pressed defense a little harder, which not only halted the Bruins in scoring, but created several pockets in the Bruins offense, causing ball turnovers. However, TMCC fell short in minute thirty-two where SLCC scored once more for the half. TMCC Goalkeeper Dakota Gomez held strong for the first half with over five saves, and looked for assistance from goalkeeper Karen Salgado for the second half.Â
Â
Despite the scoreline, TMCC walked into half two with a ready-to-play attitude. The Lady Lizards used strong communication to press and challenge the Bruins defensive line, shooting through every pocket they could find. The effort from the Mighty Lizards never faded from the field, shown proudly through Karen Salgado who saved nearly eight balls. As the half narrowed, SLCC scored twice more in minute fifty-one, and in the final minute eighty-nine. Though the scoreboard said otherwise, TMCC's clear hustle paved the way for continued growth for the games ahead.Â
The Lady Lizards plan to return to their field next week, where they face Utah State University Eastern on Thurs. Sept. 25. The match will be streamed on the Scenic West Network.Â
