Gomez-Mata joined the Lizards from Carson City, NV. A former Nevada State Champion with Carson High School (2015), he captured team MVP honors in 2016 and All League First-Team recognition his senior season in 2017. He played club soccer with Carson Pumas Soccer Club.

Gomez-Mata enjoys camping and collecting shoes in his free time outside of soccer.
