Criage Choate serves as Head Coach of the Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) Women's Volleyball program, bringing more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience and a proven record of success across multiple levels.
Choate has coached nearly 700 matches as a head coach, highlighted by a 14-year tenure at San José State University where he compiled a 244-191 record. He is the program's all-time leader in wins and longest-tenured head coach, leading the Spartans to three NCAA Tournament appearances and five 20-win seasons. He was also names Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Throughout his career, Choate has held head coaching positions at Northern Arizona University, Snow College, Southern Utah, and New Mexico State, consistently building competitive programs and guiding teams to success. At Snow College, he led the program to a 20-7 record and a top-10 national ranking, while at Northern Arizona he posted the best winning percentage in program history and coached multiple all-conference and academic honorees.
In addition to his head coaching experience, Choate has served as an assistant coach at several NCAA Division I programs, including BYU, Cal Poly, Pepperdine, and Utah State, gaining valuable experience across top-level collegiate competition.
Choate is widely recognized for his commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. He has mentored numerous academic all-conference honorees and emphasizes discipline, accountability, and a strong work ethic. His coaching philosophy centers on building well-rounded individuals who take pride in representing their program, while fostering a culture of respect, resilience, and continuous improvement.
