Volleyball Assistant Coach - Kaya Estrada

Kaya Estrada

Kaya Estrada serves as Assistant Coach for the Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) Women's Volleyball program, playing a key role in building and supporting the foundation of the Mighty Lizards. Working alongside Head Coach Craige Choate, Estrada brings a player-centered approach, strong knowledge of the game, and a passion for mentorship to the program. 

Estrada's role focuses on supporting both the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. She serves as a bridge between players and coaches, helping bring the program's vision to life while creating an environment built on trust, communication, and accountability. She is committed to ensuring athletes feel supported not only on the court, but also in their academic and personal journeys. 

With a strong emphasis on preparation, discipline, and confidence-building, Estrada works closely with players to help them adjust to the demands of collegiate volleyball. She encourages athletes to take ownership of their development, emphasizing hard work, organization, and balancing academics with athletics. 

Estrada believes that academics come first and encourages student-athletes to prioritize their education while using volleyball as a positive outlet for growth and balance. She also places a strong focus on team culture, promoting transparency, open communication, and a shared commitment to success. 

A former collegiate club player at the University of Nevada, Reno and Sacramento State, Estrada has remained active in the sport through coaching youth volleyball and competing with local club teams in the Reno area. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Management. 

As part of TMCC Women's Volleyball, Estrada is dedicated to helping establish a culture defined by hard work, connection, and pride, while guiding student-athletes both on and off the court.
