Reno, Nev.- The TMCC Men dropped their second straight contest with a 1-2 loss to Snow College Thursday.
A plethora of mistakes would prove costly for the TMCC, who seemed to play from behind for most of the afternoon after defensive lapses and mental errors kept them from establishing control. While the Lizards would hold their own for the opening minutes of the first half, they struggled to maintain pressure on the Badgers defense for the rest of the afternoon. Snow would take a 1-0 lead on a score from Badgers defender Jose Fonseca in the 25
th minute, off an assist from second year forward Kanta Sakata.
While the Lizards would draw even just four minutes later when sophomore
Adolfo Sanchez found the net off an excellent cross from forward
Jahmeyel Blackman, Snow would take the lead for good before the break. A poor touch and foul by Lizards goalkeeper
Brendin Lane resulted in a penalty for the Badgers, who put constant pressure on TMCC in their defensive third all day. Sophomore forward Ryuya Muiera would convert, giving Snow a 2-1 advantage they would maintain for the remainder of the match.
The Lizards struggled to overcome the loss of forward
Wilmer Hernandez-Parra, who exited with an injury just 12 minutes in. The lack of Hernandez-Parra seemed to throw TMCC out of sync, as they would struggle to put shots on frame during the second half.
TMCC returns to action this Saturday, May 1 when they welcome in-state rival Southern Nevada for a rematch of the 2021 season-opener.
