Reno, Nev. — TMCC's men dropped their third straight match on Saturday with a frustrating defeat to their in-state rival.
While TMCC would take control with an early score by first year forward
Ben Linnert, the Lizards were simply outplayed by their Southern Nevada counterparts for a majority of the afternoon. Aside from some chances early, TMCC seemed to struggle executing their game plan on all sides of the ball, resulting in a forgettable 1-4 loss to close their two-game home stand.
Linnert's 16
th minute score would be all the offense TMCC would generate before the Coyotes took control of the match. CSN attacker Mihreteab Tesfamariam would find the net in the 28
th minute off an assist from midfielder Eli Zaragosa to pull even, before another score from freshman back Jose Gonzalez would put CSN up 2-1 before the break. Costly mistakes would result in two additional scores in the second half sealing a victory for the Coyotes, who improved to 3-4 in Scenic West play.
CSN would finish with ten men on the field after a second caution was issued to freshman Gael Angel-Parra, who will likely have to sit out the Coyotes upcoming contest with Snow College.
TMCC has some questions to answer going into the season's final three matches, as their issues converting in the attacking third have remained and their excellent defense to open the year has taken a step back. They'll look to rebound when they travel to Craig, CO for a rematch with Colorado Northwestern Community College on May 6.
