Mighty Lizard Men Take Down PNWCC 6-0

Box Score Reno, NV - Truckee Meadows Community College Men's Soccer picked up another win on the year against Pacific Northwest Christian College, taking down the Gladiators by a score of 6-0.

The Mighty Lizards got the ball rolling early in the first half, scoring two goals off 10 total shots in the first 45 minutes. Brandon Escobedo drew first blood in the 11th minute for the first goal of the match, followed by Josue Rivas just three minutes later. For Rivas, his goal marked the first of his career in a Mighty Lizard uniform. At halftime, TMCC led by two, and looked to follow up their first half success in the final 45 minutes.

Truckee Meadows continued finding the back of the net throughout the second half, finishing with four total goals in the final 45. First year student-athlete Valentin Linan found the back of the net in the 60th minute on a PK, good for his first goal in a Mighty Lizard uniform. Linan doubled up in the 74th minute, finding the back of the net on a successful counter attack for his second goal of the match. First year student-athletes Gunnar Woods and Roberto Castillo would conclude the scoring onslaught in the 80th and 87th minutes respectively. For Castillo, his goal was good for his first in a Mighty Lizard uniform, ultimately bringing the tally to three student-athletes notching their first Truckee Meadows goal in today's match.

The Mighty Lizards will next face off at home on Saturday, Oct. 12 against #13 ranked North Idaho College. Kickoff will take place at 1:30 p.m., and the match will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
