Reno, NV - Truckee Meadows Community College Volleyball is counting down the days until the launch of its inaugural season of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competition, marking a historic new chapter for TMCC Athletics. The Mighty Lizards will be led by Head Coach Craig Choate alongside Assistant Coach Kaya Estrada, as the program prepares to take the court for the first time.
As a brand new program, TMCC Volleyball enters the Fall 2026 season focused on building its identity, gaining valuable experience, and competing against Region XVIII opponents throughout a challenging and exciting schedule.
Historic Home Opener Kicks Off the Season
The Mighty Lizards will open their historic first season at home, welcoming North Idaho College for an action–packed weekend hosted by TMCC. Game 1 is set for Friday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. PDT, followed by Game 2 on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. PDT. These matches will mark the first official contests in TMCC Volleyball history and the program's first opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd.
Home Series Continues Against CSI
TMCC will also play at home the following week as the Mighty Lizards host College of Southern Idaho.The matchup will begin with a Friday night contest at 6 p.m. PDT on Oct. 2 for Game 1, followed by Game 2 on Saturday at 1 p.m. PDT, giving fans another chance to support the new program early in the season.
Conference Play Shifts to the Road
TMCC will then continue conference competition the following week in Rangely, CO, facing Colorado Northwestern Community College on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17. Friday's matchup is set for 5 p.m. PDT, followed by Saturday's contest at Noon PDT.
Final Home Matches of the Regular Season
The Mighty Lizards will return to Reno for their final home weekend of the regular season, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24, hosting Utah State University Eastern. TMCC will take the court on Friday at 6 p.m. PDT, before closing out home play on Saturday at 1 p.m. PDT in front of the home crowd.
Regular Season Finale on the Road
TMCC Women's Volleyball will conclude regular-season play with a road trip to Snow College on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. The Mighty Lizards will face the Badgers in a Friday evening matchup at 5:00 p.m. PDT, followed by a Saturday contest at 12:00 p.m. PDT, wrapping up the first regular season in program history.
Postseason on the Horizon
Following the conclusion of regular-season competition, TMCC Volleyball will shift its focus to postseason play. The Mighty Lizards are scheduled to compete in the Region XVIII Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 4-5, facing the Scenic West Athletic Conference Champion. A potential District Championship matchup against the top-seeded opponent is slated for Nov. 9.
Should TMCC advance, the season will culminate at the NJCAA Volleyball Tournament, held Nov. 19-22 in Hutchinson, Kansas, offering the Mighty Lizards an opportunity to compete on the national stage in just the first year of program history.
