Mighty Lizard Men Defeated by CSI 1-0

Box Score Twin Falls, ID - Truckee Meadows Community College Men's Soccer opened up the second half of conference play at the College of Southern Idaho, unfortunately falling to the Golden Eagles 1-0.

While the first half remained scoreless for the full 45 minutes, Truckee Meadows wasted no time looking for opportunities while surveying CSI's back line. Most of these opportunities were either blown dead as offsides calls or fell in the hands of Golden Eagle goalkeeper Pedro De Andrade either from a cross or a direct shot. Similarly, Mighty Lizard goalkeeper Issael Moctezuma got in on the action in the first half, ultimately finishing the match with two saves across 90 minutes. The game would remain 0-0 entering halftime, as both teams strategized how they planned to come out on top.

CSI would score the lone goal of the match in the 60th minute off the boot of Marvin Jaeger. Golden Eagle Guillermo Perez was credited with the assist. Truckee Meadows, now down a goal, continued to battle and look for the equalizer but came up short at the final whistle. In the end, Southern Idaho outshot TMCC 14-7, yet the Mighty Lizards still found ways to find plenty of corner kick opportunities, which they outpaced the Golden Eagles by one.

Both squads finished the match committing 13 fouls each. Two Mighty Lizard players were hit with yellow cards, one coming in the first half and one coming in the second.

Men's Soccer will be back at home for two games next week, starting with a match on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m. against Pacific Northwest Christian College, followed by a Saturday showdown against North Idaho College at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
