Mighty Lizard Men Battle for 90 Minutes, Fall to Snow College 3-2

Box Score Ephraim, UT - Truckee Meadows Community College Men's Soccer fell to the Badgers of Snow College on Thursday afternoon by a score of 3-2.

The Mighty Lizards were the first to strike on the attacking front, when a ball knocked in the middle of the pitch by Mario Alarcon found the foot of Fernando Robles, who buried the ball in the back of the net to put TMCC up by one. Truckee Meadows would hold the 1-0 lead up until halftime, where they looked to keep the offensive momentum rolling.

Snow College would start the second half looking for an equalizer and found just that in the 61st minute, when an opportunity for a PK proved successful for Badger Jack Cook. Snow would end up taking the lead just 12 minutes later, when a goal by Jack Burman gave the Badgers a 2-1 lead.

TMCC's Gunnar Woods would be the Mighty Lizard to find the equalizer on a late drive down the pitch, tying the match at two goals apiece. With just 10 minutes remaining, Truckee Meadows looked to close out the match in a draw or victoriously. Those plans were foiled with just five minutes remaining, when an opportunity by Snow's Nefthaly Loya beat Mighty Lizard goalkeeper Jacob Rivera Gomez to give Snow a late one-goal lead, and ultimately the victory.

Despite the loss, Rivera Gomez finished the match with nine saves in net for the Mighty Lizards. Truckee Meadows committed 15 total fouls, which led them picking up four yellow cards across 90 minutes of action.

The Mighty Lizards will finish the first half of conference play this Saturday as the Mighty Lizard Men will face off at Utah State University Eastern in Price, UT. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on the Scenic West Network.
