RENO, NV – Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) Men's Soccer returns to the TMCC Soccer Field this week for a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) matchups, hosting the Snow College Badgers on Thursday, Sept. 24, before facing Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) on Saturday, Sept. 26
The return home begins with a special atmosphere on Thursday as the matchup against Snow College takes place during TMCC Spirit Day. Men's Soccer will close out the day's doubleheader with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff following the Women's Soccer match at 1 p.m.
Snow has already faced several challenging opponents this season. The Badgers opened conference competition with an 8-0 victory over CNCC before falling 4-1 to nationally ranked Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). Snow responded in its next match with a 2-1 victory over Utah State University Eastern (USUE).
The Badgers showed their ability to respond late against USUE, scoring the game-winning goal in the 85th minute. JJ Cubillas provided the finish after Liam Kibane and Amir Odeh helped create the opportunity, securing Snow's second conference victory.
TMCC enters the homestand following its own matchup with nationally ranked SLCC. The Mighty Lizards battled No. 4 SLCC before ultimately falling 5-0 on the road.
Returning home gives TMCC an opportunity to respond in front of its own supporters as the Mighty Lizards continue through Region 18 competition. Thursday's Spirit Day festivities will provide an added atmosphere around the matchup as the campus community comes together to support both soccer programs.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Spirit Day tailgate in the East Parking Lot before joining the 12:40 p.m. march to the TMCC Soccer Field. Women's Soccer opens the doubleheader against Snow at 1 p.m., with free ice cream available at the field beginning at 3 p.m., while supplies last, before the Men's Soccer match kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
Following Thursday's matchup, the Mighty Lizards will turn their attention to CNCC on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The second match of the homestand provides another opportunity for TMCC to compete for a conference result before returning to the road.
With two conference opponents coming to Reno, TMCC will look to use the energy of its home crowd as the Mighty Lizards continue through the heart of their Region 18 schedule.
