Box Score Kennewick, WA - Truckee Meadows Community College continued their winning ways after beating Blue Mountain Community College on Friday by shutting out Pacific Northwest Christian College 3-0 in their Scenic West opener, extending their win streak to five games.

The Mighty Lizards recorded an impressive 23 shots on goal over 90 minutes, constantly gaining an edge over the Gladiator defense. Second-year athlete Rylee Husted found the back of the net in the 5th minute of the first half for the first Mighty Lizard goal off a Felicity Codman assist, which would give TMCC a one goal advantage over PNWCC going into the second half.

Second-year athlete Alex Rutherford recorded 4 total shots on goal, eventually finding the back of the net for the first time this season to give the Mighty Lizards a 2-0 lead in the 65th minute. She was assisted by Brooke Sherwood. Husted would cement the victory for TMCC with a 75th minute goal after an Arianna Morales pass into the penalty area. Husted now has 9 goals so far in 2023, and is currently in the running for leading goals scored in NJCAA DI this season. Goalkeeper Heidi Anavisca picked up her third shutout of the season.

TMCC will be back in action at home on Thursday, Sep. 7 to take on Colorado Northwestern Community College in what will serve as the conference home opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the match will be streamed on the Lizards Sports Network.
