Mighty Lizard Women Defeat Colorado Northwestern 1-0

Box Score Rangely, CO - Truckee Meadows Community College Women's Soccer picked up an important Region XVIII victory at Colorado Northwestern on Saturday, shutting down the Spartans offensively while notching a goal of their own.

The lone goal of the match came in the 30th minute off the boot of midfielder Abigail Ramirez. An Elko, NV product, Ramirez currently leads the Mighty Lizards this year in Goals (6) and Points (12). On TMCC's All-Time Top 5, she currently sits tied for third in Goals/Season and fourth in Points/Season.

Monserrat Iza picked up the clean sheet for Truckee Meadows, recording two saves in the process. Iza, who began the year playing on the front line, has been slowly seeing more time between the crossbars throughout the season. Saturday's victory earned Iza her first shutout in a Mighty Lizard uniform.

Total shots in the match tallied 14-11 in favor of Colorado Northwestern, and the Spartans additionally led in corner kick opportunities 3-1. With the victory, the Mighty Lizard Women move to 4-5-3 in conference play and currently sit in a three way tie for fourth in the Region XVIII standings, with Colorado Northwestern and College of Southern Idaho holding the same conference record entering the final week of the regular season.

The Lady Lizards will look to keep their playoff hopes alive with matches at home this week against #5 Snow College on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m. and Utah State Eastern on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11:00 a.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
