Mighty Lizard Women Begin Second Half of Conference Play, Draw at CSI

Box Score Twin Falls, ID - Truckee Meadows Community College Women's Soccer kicked off the last half of Region XVIII action in 2024 on Saturday, ultimately tying the College of Southern Idaho 1-1.

TMCC jumped at numerous opportunities early in the first half resulting in an Abigail Ramirez goal in the 10th minute, after her shot went top corner to beat Golden Eagle goalkeeper Kirstine Kent. That goal marked Ramirez's fifth of the season, moving her into TMCC's Top 5 for Goals Scored and Points. Both CSI and TMCC continued to battle back and forth for extended periods of possession, but it was the Mighty Lizards coming out on top heading into halftime.

Entering the second half, College of Southern Idaho looked to pull back even with TMCC while the Mighty Lizards kept an active effort to hold and extend their lead. Ultimately, the Golden Eagles would find the game tying goal in the 52nd minute off the boot of Jayva Hicks. Possession continued to go back and forth between the two squads for the remainder of the match, which would end in a draw at the 90th minute.

The Mighty Lizards would finish the match with 4 total saves between goalkeepers Monserrat Iza and Dakota Gomez. Southern Idaho outshot Truckee Meadows nine to eight, and the Mighty Lizards out-fouled the Golden Eagles ten to six. Despite the foul total, no cards were given out in Saturday's match.

Truckee Meadows will head back to Reno for matches next week against Pacific Northwest Christian College on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 1:00 p.m., and North Idaho College on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11:00 a.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
