Truckee Meadows Women’s Soccer Opens 2024 Campaign, Defeats Rogue CC 4-1

Box Score Medford, OR - Truckee Meadows Community College Women's Soccer began their 2024 campaign on Saturday in a match at Rogue Community College, defeating the Ospreys by a score of 4-1.

The Ospreys got the ball rolling in the first half when a long shot by Isabella Bottero beat Mighty Lizard goalkeeper Sierra Gomez to give Rogue a 1-0 lead. In the 18th minute, second year Mighty Lizard Brooke Sherwood found the back of the net on a shot from about 30 yards out, tying the game at one goal apiece. Felicity Codman was credited with the assist. The Mighty Lizards and the Ospreys would continue to push back and forth in the first half, with the match ultimately tied at one after the first 45 minutes.

Truckee Meadows continued to push their offensive efforts in the second half, resulting in three goals in the final 45 minutes. First year student-athlete Abigail Ramirez found the back of the net twice, first in the 70th minute and again in the 78th minute. Litzy Saucedo was credited with the assist on the first goal, and Monserrat Iza picked up the assist on the second. In the 85th minute, it was Iza scoring her first goal in a Mighty Lizard uniform on a deep pass from goalkeeper Sierra Gomez. With the victory, the Mighty Lizards move to 1-0 on the season.

TMCC will next head to Weed, CA for a matchup against College of the Siskiyous on Sunday, Aug, 25. Kickoff will take place at 10:00 a.m.
