RENO, NV – Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) Women's Soccer returns to the TMCC Soccer Field this week for a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) matchups, beginning with the Snow College Badgers on Thursday, Sept. 24, before hosting Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Thursday's matchup will be a part of TMCC Spirit Day, bringing students, staff and fans together on the Dandini Campus before the Mighty Lizards take the field. Women's Soccer will kick off against Snow College at 1 p.m., following the Spirit Day tailgate and march to the field.
The Badgers have put together a strong start to conference competition, opening SWAC play with an 8-0 victory over CNCC before battling nationally ranked Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to a 1-1 draw and earning a 2-1 victory over nationally ranked Utah State University Eastern (USUE).
Hallie Hansen has been one of the Badgers' early offensive threats, recording four goals through Snow's first five matches. Hansen scored a hat trick in the conference opener against CNCC before adding the game-winning goal against USUE.
TMCC enters the homestand after facing another nationally ranked opponent in No. 6 SLCC. The Mighty Lizards fell 6-0 to the Bruins on the road as they continued through a challenging stretch of Region 18 competition.
Returning to the TMCC Soccer Field gives the Mighty Lizards an opportunity to regroup and turn their attention toward two conference opponents in front of the home crowd. Thursday's Spirit Day celebration will add to the atmosphere as TMCC looks to bring the energy from around campus down to the field.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and take part in the Spirit Day festivities before kickoff. The tailgate begins in the East Parking Lot, followed by a 12:40 p.m. march to the TMCC Soccer Field ahead of the 1 p.m. Women's Soccer match. Free ice cream will also be available at the field beginning at 3 p.m., while supplies last.
Following Thursday's matchup, TMCC will return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. against CNCC. The second match of the homestand gives the Mighty Lizards another opportunity to compete for a conference result as they continue through the heart of their Region 18 schedule.
With two conference matches at home, TMCC will look to take advantage of the support at the TMCC Soccer Field and build momentum as the Mighty Lizards move deeper into conference play.
