Mighty Lizard Women Fall to Snow College in Region XVIII Tournament

Box Score Herriman, UT - In their first ever appearance in the Region XVIII Tournament, TMCC showed a valiant effort against #1 seeded Snow College, but ultimately fell in the 2nd overtime period by a score of 1-0.

Both the Mighty Lizards and the Badgers looked to get the offense going early in the game, but neither team was able to convert on the given opportunities. Katelyn Norris and Allyson Mora both connected on shots which sailed wide of the net in the 19th and 23rd minutes. A 25th minute opportunity by Mia Takekuma would go on to be blocked by Snow's Candela Gonzalez to keep the game tied at zero.

Mighty Lizard Goalkeeper Heidi Anavisca remained a force in net as the game progressed, picking up key saves in the 45th and 49th minutes to open the second half. TMCC kept the pressure strong on offense, with Jenna Bosetti picking up two shots in the second half, as well as Kim Bernal and Norris picking up one apiece. After 90 minutes, the score remained at zero which ultimately forced overtime.

TMCC and Snow duked it out in overtime, with both teams looking for that lone goal needed for victory. The Mighty Lizards would open with a shot from Taylor Honea in the 95th minute which sailed just wide of the net.

Mora and Rylee Husted recorded shots for the Mighty Lizards in the 100th and 101st minutes which were both saved by Snow goalkeeper McKenna Conley. The Badgers went on to score the lone goal of the game in the 108th minute on a shot by Kennley Bradley, which ultimately ended TMCC's postseason run.

TMCC is scheduled to celebrate both its men's and women's student-athletes at the end of the year banquet on Friday, Dec. 9.
