TMCC Soccer: 2024-25 Outgoing Student-Athletes

Reno, NV - Truckee Meadows Community College Soccer will see a total of nine athletes who competed last season walk across the stage to receive their diplomas at Lawlor Events Center, on the campus of University of Nevada.

Of the nine student-athletes who competed last fall receiving their diplomas, six grew up in Northern Nevada, while three came from Southern Nevada, a testament to the opportunities available as a student and an athlete to those looking to stay in-state.

"Our primary focus is to recruit local athletes from within the state and increase our retention rates until the completion of their two-year or four-year degree here at TMCC," stated Athletic Director and Head Women's Soccer Coach Geoff Hawkins. "Our focus before success on the field is success in the classroom. As such, when students graduate with a high academic success rate, it fills us with pride."

Student-athletes from this past Women's Soccer season include:

Brooke Sherwood - Midfielder, #2 - Moapa Valley, NV, Moapa Valley HS
Brooke joined the Mighty Lizards in Fall 2023 and quickly became a go-to offensive option as an attacking midfielder over the course of her two-year career. Her future plans are to complete her schooling to become a dental hygienist and continue her career elsewhere. Brooke would like to thank her family for all the support they've given her.

Catherine Rubio - Midfielder, #16 - Reno, NV, Procter R. Hug HS
Catherine's midfield play was pivotal in turning defensive efforts into offensive opportunities for TMCC. Her future plans are to apply and enroll in the nursing program in hopes of one day becoming a pediatric nurse. Cathy would like to thank God, her family, and the friendships she's built throughout these past seasons.

Mayra Munoz - Midfielder, #26  - Las Vegas, NV, Nevada State High School
A stellar midfielder, Mayra's efforts between the defensive and attacking lines cemented her as a high IQ player. Her future plans are to continue going to school and playing soccer. Mayra would like to thank the A's family enormously for being a huge help, as well as her advisors, her family, coaches and teammates.

Student-athletes from this past Men's Soccer season include:

Guillermo Hernandez - Forward, #10 - Reno, NV, Earl Wooster HS
Guillermo joined the Mighty Lizards in 2023 and finished his career by breaking Men's Soccer's single season Assist record. His future plans are to continue his studies, complete his major and continue playing soccer. Guillermo would like to thank his parents for always being supportive in whatever he does.

Brandon Escobedo - Midfielder, #14 - Reno, NV, Procter R. Hug HS
As one of TMCC's consistent offensive options during the past two years, Brandon etched his name onto TMCC's All-Time Top Five in Goals and Points in a single season. His future plans are to transfer to a university, continue his business major and continue playing soccer at a competitive level. Brandon would like to thank his family, coaches, teammates and mentors for always being there for him and believing in him.

Jayden Gomez - Midfielder, #19 - Dayton, NV, Dayton HS
Jayden grew as a player every time he stepped on the pitch, ultimately finishing his career as a Mighty Lizard after spending two years as a midfielder. He will be receiving his Associate of Arts in Business and aspires to open his own barber shop one day. Jayden would like to thank his family, teammates, and Coach Kyle for always being encouraging and supportive.

Hunter Hernandez - Defender, #20 - Las Vegas, NV, Centennial HS
Hunter joined the Mighty Lizards after playing his freshman season on the back line at Taft College in Taft, CA. His future plans are to transfer to a good four-year university and to continue his soccer career. Hunter would like to thank his parents, as well as Coach Kyle for the opportunity to play.

Jaime Lopez - Defender, #26 - Reno, NV, Procter R. Hug HS
A skilled defender, Jaime spent his two-year career enforcing the back line for the Mighty Lizards. His future plans are to attend a four-year university and pursue a career in engineering while continuing his soccer career. Jaime would like to thank his coaches, family and friends who have been by his side during his journey, especially his dad for always pushing him to be his best on and off the field.

Jacob Rivera Gomez - Goalkeeper, #98 - Reno, NV, Damonte Ranch HS
Jacob spent his career in between the posts for the Mighty Lizards, ultimately adding his name to TMCC's All-Time Top Five in Saves and Minutes In Net for a single season.
