Reno, NV - Truckee Meadows Men's Soccer (TMCC) Men's Soccer hosted College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in the 2025 Scenic West Athletic Conference opener, ultimately falling to the Coyotes by a score of 2-4 on Friday, Aug 22.
At twenty-eight minutes, Valentin Linan with an assist from Roberto Castillo, scored the opening goal of the season. Ten minutes later, the Coyotes answered back as Julian Garcia with an assist by Enrique Reyes-Avila, who found the back of the net at thirty-eight minutes. The 1-1 deadlock remained through the first half.
As the pressure to gain the lead increased, two goals were made by CSN at sixty minutes and another at seventy-nine minutes. TMCC's Salvador Anguiano, assisted by Valentin Linan, caught an opening in Coyote defense just two minutes later, scoring at the eighty-one minute mark. The rivalry escalated in the final minutes, with both teams receiving yellow cards. The Coyotes responded quickly, adding to their scoreboard and cementing their rivalry win.
The Mighty Lizards will head north next week for their first conference road trip. They will face off at Casper College in Jerome, ID on Saturday, Aug. 30, followed by a match against Laramie County Community College on Sunday, Aug. 31. Both matches will be streamed on the Scenic West Network.
