Jerome, ID - Mighty Lizards Men found their first win of the season by defeating the Laramie County Community College Talons on Sunday, Aug. 31, with a score of 3-2.
In the nineteenth minute, the TMCC struck first with Robert Castillo firing a long range goal off an assist from Valentin Linan. Tension escalated, and the match grew physical with fouls adding up for both teams. LCCC answered the Mighty Lizards with a penalty kick goal in the fifty first minute, tying the score.
TMCC powered into halftime on top with a quick close-range shot from Anthony Garcia, but the celebration was short lived as LCCC struck back just two minutes later, leveling the score with a corner kick head shot. The Mighty Lizards kept pressure high, and in the eighty third minute Angel Nava captured the game winning shot, once again with the assist from Valentin Linan. The Talons were unable to respond, and TMCC secured their first conference win of the season.
The Mighty Lizards will head back north next week to face off College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, ID on Saturday, Sept. 6. The match will be streamed on the
