RENO, NV – Green, black, and Mighty Lizard pride will take over the Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) Dandini Campus on Thursday, Sept. 24, as TMCC Spirit Day brings the campus community together for an afternoon of food, activities and Mighty Lizard Soccer.
TMCC Athletics invites students, employees, fans, friends and families to arrive early, enjoy the festivities and help bring the energy as TMCC Women's and Men's Soccer welcome the Snow College Badgers to the TMCC Soccer Field.
While soccer kicks off at 1 p.m., fans will want to arrive well before the opening whistle to get the full Spirit Day experience.
Activities begin at 10 a.m. with Field Day in the Plaza, featuring rock climbing, giant tricycles, lawn games, arts and crafts and free TMCC swag while supplies last. This year's festivities will also introduce the inaugural Mighty 500 Tricycle race, with competitors competing in a series of races leading up to a championship race.
At 11:30 a.m., the celebration will continue as fans are encouraged to show their TMCC pride and join the eNVision Performing Arts Drumline for a march from the Plaza to the East Parking Lot, where a free Spirit Day tailgate and lunch will get underway.
Then at 12:40 p.m., the Mighty Lizard spirit will hit the pitch.
Fans are encouraged to join together for the march from the tailgate to the TMCC Soccer Field ahead of the Women's Soccer match. The march gives students, employees and community members an opportunity to arrive at the field together and create a strong home atmosphere before kickoff.
TMCC Women's Soccer gets the action started at 1 p.m. against Snow College. Following the match, the Spirit Day celebration continues with free ice cream at the field beginning at 3 p.m., while supplies last.
The afternoon concludes with TMCC Men's Soccer taking the field against the Badgers at 3:30 p.m.
With two Mighty Lizards Soccer matches, free food, activities and a campus-wide march to the field, fans are encouraged to make more than just kickoff part of their Thursday plans. Arriving by 11:30 a.m. will give attendees the opportunity to experience the tailgate, join the march, and be at the TMCC Soccer Field in time to support the Mighty Lizards from the opening whistle.
Wear your green and black, bring your Mighty Lizard spirit and help fill the sidelines as TMCC celebrates Spirit Day.
