Reno, NV - Truckee Meadows Community College Women's Soccer took a loss against Folsom Lake Community College (CA) during a hard battle from the beginning to the end of the game, resulting in a loss for our Mighty Lizards 0-2.
Within the first three minutes of the game, Karen Salgado recorded the first save of the match, making a well-timed diving save on a cross pass and securing the ball cleanly. Salgado was well prepared for this match, making additional saves throughout the first half. One of her most notable saves came during a corner kick, when an opposing player was left unmarked inside the box and positioned herself for a clean header. Salgado reacted quickly, extending her hand to intercept the ball and secure it safely in her hands.
Ten minutes before the first half ended, Salgado made another outstanding save when the ball rolled into the six-yard box, making it a simple tap for the opponent to score. However, as the opposing player attempted to finish the chance, Salgado quickly dove toward the ball, positioning her body behind it and securing it with both arms to prevent the goal.
Folsom found the back of the net twice in the sixth minute of the second half, and the thirty-four minute of the second half.
Isis Melendez committed an unfortunate foul and received a
yellow card in minute fourteen of the second half.
Alondra Carrillo and
Natalie Harper each got two free kicks, with
the ball directed above the net and to the right of it.
Our
Mighty
Lizards kept pressing and pushing forward throughout the game, taking every possible chance to get a couple of shots. The movement and patience in possession were impressive. They kept moving the ball around, looking for that gap to open up, and creating opportunities. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to tie the game.
TMCC will take the field against College of Southern Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 5, starting with Women's Soccer at 11a.m. followed by Men's Soccer at 1:30p.m..
