Box Score RENO, Nevada (October 12, 2021)- TMCC's women played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening after taking the Lake Tahoe Community College Coyotes to extra time.

After a late score pulled the visitors even, the contest proceeded to extra minutes, where neither squad would find the net.

TMCC's women came out firing, posting six shots in the opening half and dominating possession in the attacking third. Three of them would come before the seven minute mark, with
Emily Mendoza-Obeso,
Mia Takekuma and
Yalison Espinosa all getting looks on goal in the opening minutes. The trio would combine for just over half of TMCC's 21 shots on the night, led by Mendoza-Obeso's six. .

Despite holding controlling possession for most of the contest, TMCC was kept out of the net until a 69th minute score put them up 1-0. After intercepting the ball from a Coyote defender, sophomore
Yanitzia Perez-Galvan found Espinosa in space to punch one through for her second goal of the season. The midfielder finished with two of four shots on target for the contest.

LTCC wouldn't go down without a fight, however. The Coyotes would pull even in the 87th minute when Piper Pfau would take advantage of an errant clearance that bounced into space in the penalty area, forcing extra time. Despite manufacturing for all 20 minutes, neither side would find the net.

While a draw may not be what they wanted, TMCC's women performed admirably in their return home. The Mighty Lizards outshot the Coyotes 21-11 in the win, while their defensive unit put together another fantastic effort, keeping Lake Tahoe's chances to a minimum. Scenic West Goalkeeper of the week

TMCC's women return to action this Sunday, when they take on Salt Lake Community College from Herriman, UT. The match will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
