Powell, Wyo. — TMCC's women fell to Northwest College by a score of 3-2 in extra time on Saturday.
After going down 1-0 early, TMCC would battle back, keeping with the gritty and resilient theme of the season's opening road trip. Sophomore Emily Mendoza-Obeso pulled the Lizards even, netting her second score in as many matches mid-way through the opening 45 minutes.
The Lizards would pull ahead 2-1 shortly thereafter, when sophomore striker Yanitzia Perez-Galvan opened her 2021 scoring account. Perez-Galvan would finish the contest with two shots on goal.
As the morning continued, the Lizards looked destined to claim their second victory in as many matches, keeping the hosts quiet throughout the second half. However, Northwest would draw even with just under two minutes remaining to tie the contest 2-2, forcing extra minutes.
The Trappers would score quickly after the opening whistle of extra time, claiming a 3-2 win and securing a split of their two games with the Lizards.
Following the season's opening weekend, TMCC's Women will get some time off before their next scheduled match, a non-conference meeting with Feather River College (Quincy, CA) in their home opener on Aug. 31.
