Box Score PRICE, Utah– TMCC's Women fell to Utah State Eastern by a score of 1-2 on Thursday.
TMCC knocked on the door constantly in the first half, dominating possession over their Utah foes and doing well to control the attacking third. The Lizards came close to taking an early lead on multiple occasions- chances from
Malia Weller, who would put an excellent shot on target in the 12
th minute, and
Yanitzia Perez-Galvan, who put a good strike on frame just two minutes later would be saved by Eagles keeper Macey Clements, who put in a good performance for the hosts.
Shortly after Weller's 12
th minute chance, a wide-open opportunity from Kallie James would go high after a bad strike inside the penalty box.
Perez-Galvan would open the scoring for TMCC in the 24
th minute, punching one in after an errant USUE clearance left her wide open at the top of the 18-yard box. The goal would be her second in three matches to open the season.
USUE would respond in the 34
th minute, when an excellent cross from the right touchline from Hannah Carlisle was headed in by Miranda Hales.
Both squads would trade chances throughout the second half. Freshman
Jenna Bosetti was denied by Clements on a close range shot just after play resumed, only for the Eagles to put an equally good attempt on target at the hour mark.
The Lizards would continue to threaten as the second half progressed, but were unable to find the net. Utah State Eastern would pull ahead with a 66
th minute score, giving the hosts a 2-1 advantage they wouldn't concede.
TMCC's women continue their two-game road trip to Utah on Saturday, when they travel to take on nationally ranked Snow College in Ephraim, UT. Kickoff is set for 12:00PM PT, and the match will be streamed live on the Scenic West Network.
