Reno, NV - The Mighty Lizards celebrated and recognized TMCC Men's and Women's Soccer for their efforts throughout the 2022 season at their banquet held last night in the Fitness Center. With student-athletes, various staff, board members and President Hilgersom in attendance, this event included celebrating 23 outgoing sophomores, as well as award and scholarship recipients.
Following the opening remarks by head coach
Geoff Hawkins, TMCC honored all the outgoing sophomores for their efforts both on the pitch as well as in the classroom. Outgoing Women's sophomores include -
Stella Poste, GK - Poste made the move from Las Vegas to Reno to join the Mighty Lizards ahead of the Fall 2021 season. Her future plans are to transfer to UNR to continue studying Psychology.
Mia Takekuma, MF - Hailing from Lihue, HI, Takekuma joined the Mighty Lizards prior to the Fall 2021 season. Her future plans are still undecided, but lean towards a Bachelor's degree from UNR in Kinesiology.
Kennedy Ficklin, D - A Las Vegas native, Ficklin joined the Mighty Lizards in the fall of 2020. Upon graduation from TMCC, Ficklin plans on moving back home to finish her studies.
Katelyn Norris, F - The Henderson, NV native made her debut for the Mighty Lizards in the fall of 2021. After graduating from TMCC, Norris plans on attending UNR while studying Environmental Science.
Colby Bera, MF - A product of Minden, NV, Bera joined the Mighty Lizards in the fall of 2020. Her plan upon graduating from TMCC is to work towards becoming a flight attendant.
Kim Bernal, F - Bernal joined the Mighty Lizards as a transfer from Otero Junior College this fall. Upon graduation from TMCC, Bernal hopes to one day work in dental hygienics.
Allyson Mora, F - A Reno native, Mora joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. Upon graduating from TMCC, Mora plans on transferring to UNR to continue her education.
Jenna Bosetti, D - The Vacaville, CA native joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2020 season. Bosetti's future plans include graduating from UNR with a degree in public health, then joining the Air Force with the intention of becoming a flight nurse.
Alanna Barrera, D - A product of North Valleys High School, Barrera joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. Barrera's plans following graduation from TMCC include transferring to UNR to continue her studies in Criminal Justice.
Sierra Gutierrez, F - Originally from Alameda, CA, Gutierrez came to TMCC in 2021 first as a goalkeeper before transitioning to forward. Upon graduation from TMCC, Gutierrez plans on continuing her education at UNR in Kinesiology.
MaKensie Turner, F - Turner joined the Mighty Lizards in the Fall 2021 season from Las Vegas, NV, first as a goalkeeper before transitioning to forward. After TMCC, she plans to transfer to UNLV to further her studies in Psychology.
Outgoing Men's sophomores include -
Brandon Espino, GK - Espino joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the Fall 2021 season after playing for nearby Wooster High School. His plans upon graduation from TMCC are to become a civil engineer as well as continue to play soccer.
Brady Payton, D - A product of McQueen High School, Payton joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the Fall 2021 season. His plans upon graduation from TMCC include becoming a firefighter and making a difference in whatever community he decides to reside in.
Ely Marin, MF - A Reno native and McQueen High School product, Marin joined the Mighty Lizards prior to the Fall 2021 season. After graduating at TMCC, he plans to stay local and earn a bachelor's degree from UNR.
Cuauhtemoc Borjon, MF - Hailing from West Valley City, UT, Borjon joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. Borjon plans to transfer to a four year university with the hope to still play the remainder of his eligibility.
Allen Somera, MF - The Reno, NV native joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2020 season after finishing his senior season with Cimmaron Memorial High School in Las Vegas. Somera plans to transfer elsewhere to continue his education as well as his soccer career upon graduation from TMCC.
Jacob Duran, D - A product of Dayton, NV, Duran joined the Mighty Lizards prior to the 2020 season. In the future, Duran looks to graduate with a degree in Business from either UNR or UNLV.
Sebastian Leguizamon, MF - A Las Vegas native, Leguizamon joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. His plans after graduating from TMCC are still undecided, but he plans on continuing his academic and athletic path elsewhere.
Bryan Ugalde, MF - A Fallon, NV native, Ugalde joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. Upon graduation from TMCC, Ugalde plans on transferring to UNR or another college to get his Bachelor's in Wildlife Biology while also working full time.
Micah Myers, MF - Hailing from Las Vegas, Myers joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2020 season. His plans upon graduation from TMCC include graduating with a business degree from UNR, going into medical sales, as well as advancing his DJ career.
Cameron Kornock, MF - A Las Vegas native, Kornock joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2020 season. His plans upon graduation from TMCC include pursuing a Bachelor's in Nursing Science at UNLV with the possibility of continuing his soccer career
Jaden Roig, F - A Reno native and a Bishop Manogue High School product, Roig joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2021 season. Upon graduation, he plans on staying at TMCC and studying for their new Bachelor's program in Architecture Design.
Luis Gutierrez-Sanchez, MF - A product of Reed High School in nearby Sparks, Gutierrez-Sanchez joined the Mighty Lizards ahead of the 2020 season. His plans upon graduating from TMCC are to own and grow multiple businesses.
In addition to recognizing all outgoing student-athletes, multiple awards were given out to those who exemplified their strengths on an athletic level, those who exemplified leadership on and off the field, as well as for those who overcame obstacles to get to where they stand now.
