Box Score Reno, NV – What started out as a close game turned lopsided as the TMCC Mighty Lizards beat the Northwest College Trappers by a score of 3-0. This match served as the first game of regular season play, and the Mighty Lizards played with both grace and strength.
In the first 45, it was Katelyn Norris who netted the only goal for the Mighty Lizards. Norris got the shot off in the 31st minute after beating multiple defenders on the attacking front, and Michelle Suria was credited with the assist.
While Northwest kept it close throughout the remainder of the game, it was TMCC's Rylee Husted who netted two goals in the 83rd and 86th minutes. Bailey Rozier was credited with the assist in the 83rd minute and Destiny Rojas picked up the assist in the 86th minute.
Head coach Geoff Hawkins was happy with the win, almost as if he expected it. "We need to continue to push ourselves in training to become better everyday," he stated following the win.
TMCC will be back in action on Monday, Aug. 22 for a scrimmage against the Reno Vikings at home, where they will look to expand off of their first win of the season before playing Lake Tahoe Community College on Friday, Aug. 26.
