Box Score South Lake Tahoe, CA - The TMCC Mighty Lizards Women played Lake Tahoe Community College and showed no mercy, winning by a final score of 2-0.
The first half was tightly contested with neither team able to convert any opportunities given.
Katelyn Norris registered 3 shots on goal in the first half, with
Mia Sappenfield and
Rylee Husted each recording a shot of their own.
The Mighty Lizards came out strong in the second half, with
Bailey Rozier scoring the first goal of the game off a corner kick in the 50th minute. Shortly after, it was Norris who scored the 2nd goal of the game in the 53rd minute on an assist by
Rylee Husted.
Heidi Anavisca had a solid showing in net for the Mighty Lizards, notching 4 saves throughout 90 minutes. A strong outing by Anavisca and the TMCC defenders helped cement the shutout victory for the Mighty Lizards women.
TMCC will be back in action on Thursday, Sep. 1 against Utah State University Eastern at home. This match will serve as the conference opener, and the Mighty Lizards will look to carry their momentum forward and come away with yet another victory.
